The event was opened by the project manager &#8211; Vanya Noteva and the mayor of Troyan &#8211; Donka Mihailova. The report and results of the study were presented by sociologist Dr. Tsvetelina Stoyanova<\/p>\n<p>The presented results are based on a &#8220;Direct interview&#8221; survey of citizens from Troyan, organized in 8 focus groups of different ages, surveys of 130 students and &#8220;in-depth field interviews&#8221; of 30 young people, as well as 30 representatives of local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the study was to find out how young people perceive the topic of emigration from the city, the reasons and motives for this decision, the ways of their retention and development in the municipality of Troyan by all interested parties, what are the available opportunities for professional and personal realization, which factors positively or negatively affect the intention to emigrate, do young people have access to information and decision-making processes that affect them and what are their opportunities for civic participation.<\/p>\n<p>After the analysis, positive attitudes emerge as dominant, which are expressed in the following: Troyan and the municipality are perceived as a good place to live with many more opportunities and developed business compared to other Bulgarian cities of this size, the city of Troyan combines the advantages of small a city like peace, comfort, an ecologically clean environment and at the same time the city has not died down, there is life and working businesses in it, there is no unemployment, there are young people who settle in the municipality. The city is developing and is calm, safe, with low crime, suitable for a relaxed family life and raising children, with opportunities for cultural life, entertainment and sports.<\/p>\n<p>The negative attitudes are due to the limited opportunities due to its size: it lacks the diversity with which the big city captivates the imagination of young people, the level of pay, which is significantly lower than that in the capital, the difficult realization of any professions, not only the traditional ones .<\/p>\n<p>The interviewees identified as the main reason for emigration the fact that the city cannot retain young people mainly due to limited opportunities for professional development and lower wages.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the study, sociologists recommend six areas of intervention to change attitudes and activate civil society: affirming positive examples among young people through good news, events, meetings with inspiring leaders, activating young people by involving them in urban planning and other decisions, through systematic work on professional guidance and interaction with businesses to stimulate entrepreneurial attitudes.<\/p>\n<p>The improvement of the living environment also has aspects with the need for interaction: the creation of social spaces for children to play and communicate in winter, improved safety and control over the environment as well: lighting, cameras, police officers being more visible as a presence. helping young families. Providing young families with housing is a major and often a leading factor in the permanent establishment of a family. The municipality has included the problems of young families in its strategic documents, but its initiatives should be more visible.<\/p>\n<p>Attracting business as a partner is also important: the survey shows that many of the companies take some measures to retain young people, and that there are businesses that do not. Initiatives carried out by companies in relation to young people should be stimulated through more promotion and, if possible, with other financial mechanisms. They should be set as a good example to other companies. The sixth aspect is marketing of the destination &#8211; one of the important recommendations of the survey participants is to make Troyan a more popular destination &#8211; not only a tourist destination, but also one suitable for settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by the Mayor Donka Mihailova, Deputy Mayor Rozalina Rusenova, the Chairman of the Troyan Municipal Council &#8211;
